Vice President of the Protection of the Constitution since 2019

Selen has been Vice President of the BFV since the beginning of 2019. Previously, the Cologne team, who looked back on a long career in the security authorities, had taken care of security issues at the TUI group during a three-year trip to the private sector.


The 53-year-old had managed the authority since November 2024 together with Vice President Silke Willems. He is the first BFV president to not born in Germany. As a toddler, selenium came to Germany with his parents from Turkey.

The former President of the Federal Office, Thomas Haldenwang, announced in November that he was aiming for a candidacy for the CDU in the Bundestag election.
