China warns of a new “law of the jungle” and interference in his Affairs. The message is aimed at certain countries – without their names.
In view of regional conflicts, China warns of interference in his affairs and other disputes. “The world is at another intersection today: peace or war, dialogue or confrontation,” said China’s Defense Minister Dong Jun at the opening ceremony of the Xianghan Forum in Beijing. Taiwan is undisputedly part of China – the People’s Liberation Army is a strong power to defend the “reunification”, he said.
The People’s Republic will never allow attempts to independence Taiwan’s success. Dong explained that she was ready to thwart every “external military interference” at any time without naming certain countries. China sees Taiwan as part of its territory, although the island state has had an independent government for years. The United States is Taiwan’s closest ally in defense.
China’s reminder to countries in the South China Sea
In view of the disputes, especially with the Philippines for raw material -rich areas in the South China Sea, Dong emphasized that China would take measures to protect its territorial sovereignty and its rights and interests. A striving for absolute military superiority and on the principle of “power is right” would ultimately lead to a “law of the jungle”. China had recently declared an atoll into a nature reserve in the South China Sea.
The Xiangshan Forum is considered a China’s counter-event to the internationally known Shangri-la dialogue, which meets in Singapore every year. Western states are therefore usually represented in Beijing on a low level. Germany and the United States sent the military attachés of their messages. Similarly, the People’s Republic in Singapore had only sent a low-ranking delegation this year and left a personal meeting between Dong and US Defense Minister Pete Hegseth.
Some countries from Central Asia and the global south sent their defense minister. According to Beijing, defense politicians and experts from more than 100 countries agreed for the forum.
