The left Bundestag Vice President accuses the Union of “sensing” the next judge election. Group leader Heidi Reichinnek complains about the “demonization” of her party.
Two days before the planned election of three new federal constitutional judges by the Bundestag, the criticism of acting the CDU and CSU is growing in the left. Bundestag Vice President Bodo Ramelow accused Union faction leader Jens Spahn “Grotten -Sichtihnecht craft”. “I am not at all satisfied with how CDU and CSU want to come to two-thirds in parliament,” said the former Thuringian Left Prime Minister of the star. “In any case, it doesn’t work in this way.”
According to Ramelow, Spahn shows “bad style”. “The fact that the SPD is now being sent alone to talk to us about the coalition candidates is rarely stupid,” he said. As a result, the election scheduled for Thursday could go wrong again: “What the Union has blamed last time can now once again blunt.”
Before the summer break, the choice of Potsdam’s legal professor Frauke Brosius-Gersdorf failed due to the resistance of the Union faction. After the lawyer did without her candidacy, the federal administrative judge Sigrid Emmenegger has now been nominated.
Ramelow: “No reasonable dealings with each other”
Spahn said on Sunday in the ARD show “Caren Miosga” that Emmenegger had been proposed by the social democratic coalition partner. Accordingly, SPD parliamentary group leader Matthias Miersch also approached the opposition and “spoke to the Greens and, as far as I know, also spoke to the left party”.
Ramelow criticized this statement. “If Spahn now says nonchalant in a talk show that it has been talked about, it does not replace a direct conversation and is not a reasonable way of dealing with each other,” he said.
The Bundestag Vice President emphasized that in East German countries there has been talking about judge elections for the state constitutional courts for decades: “This has already been considered in Thuringia when Bernhard Vogel was a prime minister for the CDU and I was opposition leader for the PDS.”
Reichinnek: Spahn maneuvered himself “continue to the corner” in the election of judges ”
The left-wing parliamentary group leader Heidi Reichinnek also referred to the cooperation of her party with the Union in East Germany. “Jens Spahn knows best that his party has been working with the left for a long time, for example in Saxony and Thuringia,” she told that star. “With every demonization of us, he continues to maneuver into the corner.”
Reichinnek was still ready to negotiate. Although the left “no great sympathy” for the Union, it is ready to have discussions “for the protection of democracy and improvements for people in the country”. “The fact that the Union tacts in a party politically in such an important question clearly shows that this is not the focus of it.”
On Monday evening, the Bundestag judge’s election committee confirmed the nomination of Sigrid Emmenegger. The legal scientist Ann-Katrin Kaufhold, which is proposed by the SPD, and the Union candidate, Federal Labritator Günter Spinner, are also available. Both personal details had already been approved by the judge election committee before the summer.
In this committee, the coalition parties and the Greens have a two -thirds majority – however, in the plenary of the Bundestag. This requires voices from the left or the AfD for a successful choice on Thursday.
