Premiere in the plenary hall: For the first time, a member of the Bundestag gave a speech with her baby in her arms. The child of the Green politician Hanna Steinmüller took it calmly.
The Green MP Hanna Steinmüller has given her speech on the budget of the Ministry of Building with a baby in the belly stretcher-and thus wrote history, according to the Bundestag. “For the first time, a MP with her baby was at the speech desk of the German Bundestag,” said Parliament on his Instagram account. In a video you could see that the child accepted his appearance calmly and apparently slept.
Steinmüller’s baby was previously in the plenum
Steinmüller, who announced the birth of her young talent at the end of December, has previously taken her child into the plenary. For the first time, in the afternoon she also took it to the speaker in a baby carrier in front of her stomach. “Wild day. We are happy at the end of the day, tomorrow a few more thoughts about compatibility,” she wrote in an Instagram story in the evening. The 32-year-old has represented the Berlin-Mitte constituency in the Bundestag since 2021.
Parliamentary Physician Julia Klöckner also wrote in a story on Instagram: “Mother with infant and childcare challenge? Hanna Steinmüller mastered this brilliantly with her child.” That is why she also considered it reasonable to allow infants in the plenary hall under certain circumstances, wrote the CDU politician.
