When Donald Trump visits the UN, stumbling several times: First the escalator with him and the first lady stops, then the teleprompter also fails.
After technical breakdowns around the appearance of US President Donald Trump at the United Nations, the UN reject responsibility for the causes. A UN spokesman said in New York on Tuesday that Trump’s own cameraman may have accidentally triggered a security mechanism. The man turned up the escalator with his back to film the arrival of Trump and his wife Melania. The evaluation of the central escalator control showed that a safety mechanism on the so-called comb plate had been triggered at the top of the upper end, said the spokesman. The plate is intended to prevent the clamping of objects.
Presidential office spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt had previously requested an investigation by the incident. If someone has intentionally stopped at the UN, this person must be released immediately and investigated against them, she wrote on the platform X. There was initially no opinion on the recent representation of the UN.
Trump complains of poor treatment in the UN
At the beginning of his speech, Trump had complained about a “bad escalator and a bad teleprompter” before the general assembly. Everything he gets from the UN is a non -functioning escalator. The teleprompter does not work either, so that he will speak freely. Whoever uses the teleprompter is “in great difficulty,” said Trump.
However, from circles of the UN, the US Presidential Office then used its own teleprompter for the speech. The President of the UN General Assembly, Annalena Baerbock, had already said after Trump’s speech: “The telepromps of the UN work perfectly.”
