Ultrar rights coalition partners of Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu push for the annexation of large parts of the West Bank. Donald Trump makes an announcement before a UN-speech Netanyahus.
US President Donald Trump faces an annexation of the western Bank by Israel. “I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank,” said the Republican to journalists in the White House.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to speak this Friday before the UN General Assembly in New York. Right -wing extremist ministers in Netanyahu’s government had recently pushed massively on the annexation of the West Bank, which they regard as part of the biblical Israel – in response to the recognition of a Palestinian state by several important western countries.
According to media reports, Netanyahu only wants to make a final decision after a meeting with US President Trump, which is planned next Monday. The United States is the most important ally international Israel.
Finance Minister Bezhalel Smotrich had already threatened in August that Israel would incorporate the area into account if a Palestinian state was recognized. At the beginning of September, Smotrich then said that an annexation of 82 percent of the occupied West Bank was striving.
Sharp warning of the emirates of the crotch
The United Arab Emirates (VAE) recently urged Israel against a possible annexation of large parts of the West Bank. Such steps would destroy the chances of peace in the region and the spirit of the Abraham Agreement concluded with Israel, it said. The Emirates were the first golf state in 2020 to record diplomatic relationships with Israel. The basis for this was the so-called Abraham Agreement conveyed by the USA, which also signed Bahrain. Netanyahu had suspended former annexation plans in the West Bank in return for the approach at the time with the United Arab Emirates.
The US broadcaster CNN had recently reported that Netanyahu was considering gradually annexation to cushion international criticism-and to keep open, in return for the normalization of relationships with Saudi Arabia that is aiming for Israel, to refrain from annexation of the entire area.
Netanyahu’s right-back government is steadily driving the settlement expansion in the West Bank and in East Jerusalem. In 1967 Israel had conquered the West Bank and East Jerusalem, where today more than 700,000 Israeli settlers live in the middle of around three million Palestinians. The Palestinians claim the areas for their own state.
A number of states recognize a state of Palestine
More and more western partners turn away from the government of the Israeli Prime Minister because of the aggressive Israeli warfare in the Gaza Strip. According to Great Britain and Canada, France also recognized the state of Palestine on Monday.
However, Israel’s head of government announced that it only wanted to react to the recognition of a Palestinian state by several western countries after his return from his trip to the USA. “The answer to the recent attempt to force us to impose a terrorist in the middle of our country is given after my return from the USA.”
