Special funds for infrastructure and climate protection approved
Bridges, railway lines, energy: With the special fund, which is difficult for billions, the infrastructure is to be made fit again. Not everyone is satisfied in the country chamber.
The countries have cleared the way for the billions of special funds for infrastructure and climate protection. The law found the necessary support in the Federal Council. The financial package planned by the federal government for months had already been decided by the Bundestag last week.
For more than twelve years, additional investments are to be stored from the 500 billion euros of the special fund, for example to renovate bridges and railway lines or to expand the energy infrastructure. The funds should also flow in digitization, hospitals and housing. Parts of the billions go to the countries, parts in the federal climate and transformation fund.
“Money that is urgently needed”
Brandenburg’s Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke (SPD) said: “It is money that is urgently needed. We urgently need money to modernize our infrastructure.” Now it is a matter that people should quickly notice that something is going on in the country. “We have to connect these projects to planning and approval acceleration.”
Money for gas in criticism
Bremen’s finance senator Björn Fecker (Greens) criticized that the federal government did not only want to clear the additional funds for additional investments. Instead, investments should also be made in gas supply. To put money in fossil energies, but have no transformational character at all.
