Soon homeless?
AfD has to move out of its federal office – this will be very, very expensive

The AfD must move out of its federal office in Berlin. Allegedly, she has found a new property in the center of the capital. But nothing has been bought yet.

Political rhetoric sometimes belongs to make a glorious victory from a half -cooking success. This rule also applies to the AfD.

“As expected, the court confirmed our legal opinion,” jubiled the Federal Party Vice Kay Gottschalk on Friday by press release. “We expressly welcome the decision,” added Federal Treasurer Carsten Hütter.

The Berlin Regional Court had previously judged that the party had to vacate most of its federal office in the capital until autumn 2026 – even though the lease should still run until the end of 2027. At the same time, however, the landlord’s eviction lawsuit was rejected.

AfD must vacate the federal office

That means: The party has successfully resisted the termination without notice. It does not become homeless immediately. Nevertheless, you only have a year to seek new accommodation for herself and her more than 50 employees.

Or does she already have one? “In the coming year, as the owner, we will move into our new property and, as a office, be geographically and structurally better than ever before,” said Hütter.

That sounds extremely confident. But the party bought according to information from the star nothing yet. A working group of the federal board is in purchase negotiations with several providers, it said. This time all in question would be in the center of the capital.

It will be very, very expensive for the AfD

That has followed. Even if the new representation has not yet been found, one thing is certain: it becomes very, very expensive. There is talk of a double -digit million amount in the party.

So far, the AfD, which at least the second largest parliamentary group in the Bundestag, has been housed in a faceless office building in Berlin-Reinickendorf. From the Bundestag you need half an hour or more depending on the means of transport and location. This is also why AfD boss Alice Weidel was reluctant to see the domicile on the periphery. But the party has not yet been able to find another, better lying rental property in the capital. And for a purchase, she simply lacked the money.

But that is different now. In addition to ever larger donations, the party receives more tax money than ever before. For each voter, you are entitled to a refund of around one euro of the state. And in the Bundestag election in February alone, the party came to a good ten million votes.

Dispute election party

However, it was also the Bundestag election that gave the party their housing problem. On the election evening, the AfD had the building blocked off the building in Reinickendorf in order to be able to celebrate a big party as undisturbed as possible, with loud music and smoking large grills in the courtyard.

This is exactly what the AfD violated contractual obligations, the Berlin Regional Court now judged according to a lawsuit by the landlord. Therefore, the party has to move out, just not without notice – although the final decision has not yet been made here either. Because an appeal can be filed and the plaintiff owner leaves this option open for the time being. He would only comment on this after the reason for the verdict, he said.

Either way, the AfD is under enormous pressure. Because it doesn’t just have to have bought an expensive property within a year. It must also have moved in there.

The office will attract protests

Your negotiating position should not improve this. In addition, it is not a normal party, but a partial right -wing organization that is observed by the protection of the constitution.

The seller of a property to the AfD must therefore expect major image problems. At the same time, not only the new office, but also the entire neighborhood should become the permanent goal of protests. The police would have to do significantly more than in the Reinickendorfer outskirts.

In the end, the party’s self -explanatory victory could become a embarrassment. Or, it is the AfD: a particularly great history of victim.
