Trump: “Good will and enthusiasm” for gaza cleaning

The US President raises hopes for an end to the Gaza War. The German Foreign Minister is also optimistic – despite a speech by the Israeli head of government accompanied by protests.

U.S. President Donald Trump, according to his own information, sees good chances of setting up in the Gaza war and a permanent peace. “After so many decades, there is more good will and enthusiasm for an agreement than I have ever seen before,” he wrote Truth Social on his platform. Everyone is happy to leave this “time of death and darkness” behind. “We have to get the hostages back and reach a permanent and long -term peace!”

Trump spoke of “very inspiring and productive conversations” to representatives of the Middle East, intensive negotiations have been running for four days. These would continue as long as necessary to achieve a successful agreement. All countries in the region are involved, Trump said without going into detail. Islamist Hamas knows about the conversations, and Israel is also informed.

WadePhul: Have a momentum now

The German Foreign Minister Johann WadePhul was also optimistic about a new US input for peace in Middle East. He “realizes that we have a momentum now. And you have to use that responsibly, and you have to make contributions,” said the CDU politician on the sidelines of the UN General Batte in front of journalists in New York. The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave an expected speech to the United Nations. Nevertheless, he was optimistic “because this speech has made nothing impossible for suggestions that are currently in the world”. WadePhul itself should talk to the UN this Saturday.

Trump spoke of possible agreement beforehand

A few hours earlier, Trump had awakened hope of a breakthrough in the negotiations for an end to the Gaza War – it is not the first time. The Republican said in front of journalists in Washington: “I think we may have an agreement with Gaza.” You are about to be settled. However, his formulations continued in part – only shortly afterwards he said to the journalists: “It looks like we had an agreement on Gaza.” And: “I think we have an agreement.”

Stand of the negotiations unclear

The exact state of the indirect negotiations between Israel and Islamist Hamas about a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip is still unclear. The US President had repeatedly been hopeful in the past – however, there has been no breakthrough. Together with Qatar and Egypt between the two parties in the Gaza War, the United States.

This was triggered by an attack by Hamas and other Islamist terrorist organizations to Israel on October 7, 2023, in which around 1,200 people were killed and more than 250 were delayed as hostages into the Gaza strips. There are still 48 hostages, 20 of whom are still alive according to Israeli information. According to the health authority controlled by the Hamas, more than 65,400 Palestinians have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the war, whereby a distinction is made between fighters and civilians.

According to Trump’s information, it is now about an agreement that includes the release of the hostages, ends war and brings peace. Most recently, the negotiations for the Gaza War on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly had started speed again. The US President had submitted a 21-point plan for peace in the Middle East Arab state and government heads.

According to US media, this includes demands for permanent ceasefire, the release of the hostages and a gradual withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Gaza Strip as well as a proposal for a government of the coastal area without the participation of Islamist Hamas.

Netanyahu speech does not react directly to Trump peace plan

In his speech before the UN General Assembly on Friday, Netanyahu did not react directly to Trump’s peace plan, which is given by diplomats opportunities for real progress and an end to the Gaza war.

In his speech accompanied by protests, the Israeli head of government defended his internationally controversial warfare in the Gaza Strip and sharply attacked critics. Netanyahu turned against a number of western states that had recognized a state of Palestine in the past few days in response to the Israeli approach in the Gaza Strip, including France, Great Britain, Canada and Australia. They had sent a clear message, said Netanyahu: “Murder Jews, pays off.”

At the beginning of the speech, dozens of diplomats in protest had left the meeting room on the East River. According to US media reports, there were also protests on the streets of New York. On the one hand, Propalestinian demonstrators gathered that accused Netanyahu of war crimes. On the other hand, members of the hostages in the Gaza Strip, the release of their family members through Hamas, demanded the release of their family members. In a message from the forum of the hostage families, it was said that Netanyahu’s announcement to continue fighting in the Gaza Strip, the life of the kidnapped and threaten the rescue of dead hostages.

Netanyahu: Decision to West Bank after Trump meeting

The Arab countries require the renexion of parts of the West Bank or the Gaza Strip for a permanent peace in the Middle East. Trump had recently made it clear that he would not “allow” Israel to annex the West Bank.

According to media reports, the Israeli head of government had announced that it was only after his meeting with Trump in Washington, planned for Monday, a final decision to incorporate Palestinian areas. This is requested by ultra -right coalition partners of the Prime Minister. In his speech at the Generalbatte, Netanyahu did not speak of an official incorporation of the Palestinian areas.
