First to the family doctor, only then to the specialist – this is what the order should look like in the future. The health insurance doctors are now proposing an alternative.
Pay a few hundred euros a year and continue to go directly to the specialist? Such a concept hovers the head of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV), Andreas Gassen. “Our proposal is: Insured persons who also want to go directly to a specialist in the future without referring to a family doctor or a digital initial assessment must be made directly to a specialist,” said Gassen to the Editorial Network Germany.
“The plan of the black and red coalition to have the insured person controlled by the family doctor is particularly useful for older people with many illnesses and chronics, but not for all insured persons.” Younger patients in particular often find the detour through the family doctor superfluous. If you finish a specialist tariff, “has freedom of choice and can always go directly to the specialist in the future”.
First to the family doctor, then to the specialist
According to the coalition agreement, the Union and the SPD want to introduce a binding system in which patients go primarily to a family practice that they transfer to specialists if necessary – with an appointment in a certain period of time.
Minister of Health Nina Warken (CDU) recently announced on ZDF that the corresponding models would be discussed – such as fees for direct treatment.
