Invasion of Ukraine: Kremlin: delegation in Belarus ready for negotiations

The Kremlin announced on Saturday that Ukraine had turned down an offer of talks. He has now announced that a Russian delegation is waiting in Minsk. Selenskyj had previously rejected the location as a meeting point.

According to the Kremlin, a Russian delegation has traveled to Belarus for negotiations with Ukraine.

“According to the agreement reached,” representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense and the presidential administration have arrived in the city of Gomel, said President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, according to the TASS agency on Sunday. “We are ready to start these negotiations in Gomel,” said Peskov.

The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj was in principle ready for negotiations. However, he rejected talks in Belarus. The country is taking part in combat operations against Ukraine, said Zelenskyj as a reason. An advisor to Zelenskyj dismissed the Russian information as a tactic.

The Kremlin also announced that a delegation traveled to the Belarusian capital of Minsk on Friday for negotiations. However, the Ukrainian side did not get in touch after a break. As a result, the attacks in Ukraine were resumed.
