A former employee of Maximilian Krah is said to have forwarded confidential information to China and spied on dissidents – now the judgment has fallen against Jian G.
The former employee of the AfD member of the Bundestag Maximilian Krah, Jian G., has been sentenced to a prison sentence of four years and nine months for espionage for China. The Dresden Higher Regional Court saw the intelligence agent activity of the German in a particularly difficult case.
As an employee in Krah’s MPs’ office in the European Parliament, G. is said to have collected information from 2019 to 2024 and sometimes passed on to Chinese bodies. He also compiled personal information about AfD leadership staff and spied out Chinese dissidents.
The accused rejected allegations
In his last word, G. had rejected the allegations. “I didn’t work for a Chinese secret service and I am innocent,” he said at the previous day’s hearing last week. His lawyer called for an acquittal due to the lack of sufficient evidence. The Attorney General had requested a prison sentence of seven and a half years.
GS was also accused of alleged complicity Yaqi X. The Chinesin was accused of having delivered data on freight, flights and passengers as an employee of a logistics company at Leipzig Airport. In the process, she had admitted the passing on of information, but denied that he knew about the agent activity. The court sentenced them to a suspended sentence of one year and nine months.
Separate procedure against krah
The Dresden General Prosecutor’s Office is investigating Krah in a separate procedure for bribery and money laundering in connection with Chinese payments. The member of the Bundestag, as a witness, stated that he knew nothing of the agent activity and membership of his former employee in China’s Communist Party.
