Trump announces his GAZA plan, now the Hamas consults on an answer. Israel signals hardness while many states support the advance.
After the presentation of the peace plan for the Gaza Strip by US President Donald Trump, representatives of the radical Islamic Palestinian organization Hamas advised on Tuesday. The Hamas examines the proposal supported by Israel, said a spokesman for the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Doha. The Israeli head of government Benjamin Netanyahu threatened on Monday during a visit to the White House with the continuation of the Israeli military mission in the Gaza Strip, should Hamas reject the peace plan. This provides for her disempowerment in the coastal area.
Palestinian circles said that Hamas’ advice could last for several days. Later on Tuesday, negotiators from Qatar and Turkey would also advise HAMAS about Trump’s peace plan, said the spokesman for the Qatarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
20-point plan provides for the release of the Gaza Geiseln
Netanyahu approved Trump’s plan on Monday during his visit to the White House in Washington. At the same time, he threatened Hamas: If this refused to the plan, Israel will “end the job,” said Netanyahu, referring to the Israeli military operation in the densely populated coastal strip. Trump assured Netanyahu the “full support” of the United States, “to finally remove the threat from Hamas”.
The 20-point plan of the US President provides, among other things, an release of the remaining Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip through Hamas and a gradual withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Palestinian area. “Nobody is forced to leave Gaza,” says the proposal with a view to the Palestinian civilian population.
The United States also wants to develop an “international stabilization force with Arabic and international partners, which is to be used immediately in Gaza”, as the 20-point plan says. A transitional government of “apolitical” Palestinians and international experts should also ensure the daily administration of the Gaza Strip and the care of people. A “Peace Council” under Trump’s direction and with the participation of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair is to monitor and supervise the expert government.
Israel continues to reject Palestinian state
A Palestinian state is not fundamentally excluded in Trump’s peace plan, but Netanyahu said that Israel continues to reject a Palestinian state “clearly”. He also explained that the Israeli army “will remain in a large part of the Gaza Strip”.
From Netanyahu’s government coalition, there were sometimes sharp criticism of the plan. The right-wing extremist finance minister Bezalel Smotrich described him as “blatant diplomatic failure” and, with a view to the major Hamas attack almost two years ago, as a departure “from all teachings on October 7”.
Internationally, however, the peace plan met with broad approval. Several western governments were behind the proposals, including Berlin, London and Paris. Eight Arab and Muslim countries as well as the Palestinian Authority rated the efforts of the US President positively for an end to the war.
The Kremlin in Moscow said Russia supported and greeted Trump’s proposal and hope for a “peaceful termination” of the conflict. Beijing also agreed: China “supports all efforts” for a de -escalation in the Gaza Strip, said a spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Hamas triggered war in the Gaza
The radical Islamic Palestinian organization Hamas had triggered the Gaza War with its major attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. According to Israeli information, 1219 people were killed and 251 people were dragged into the Gaza strip as hostages. There are still 47 hostages in the violence of Hamas, of which, according to the Israeli army, at least 25 are already dead.
Since the Hamas attack, Israel has been massively militarily in the Gaza Strip. According to un independent information from the Hamas Ministry of Health, more than 66,000 Palestinians have already been killed.
