SPD-Linke rejects combustion turnaround-hard criticism of Union

The left wing of the SPD parliamentary group on the coalition committee on Wednesday will be banned from the burner from 2035 and thus goes to Chancellor Friedrich Merz and the coalition partner of the Union.

According to the CDU chairwoman, he does not want to “be one of the countries that capture this wrong ban”.

Merz pointed out that the EU Commission wanted to make a decision on the question this year. From 2035, no new cars with gasoline or diesel engine are to be approved in the EU. The aim of the 2022 specified specification is to lower CO₂ emissions in the traffic sector. The Union wants to tip it out of consideration for the auto industry important for Germany.

From the point of view of the SPD Links, moving away from the ban on new registration would be “not a harmless change of course”, but a risky “relapse into old thinking patterns”, according to the position paper. Accordingly, political wobbling would slow down investments, unsettle works and weaken regions that were just giving hope.

“The Union wants to soften this for fossil combustioners and thus risk jobs, investments and planning security,” said Carmen Wegge, co-spokeswoman for the parliamentary left star. The SPD link insists on a “strong, fair and climate-neutral Autoland Germany” and formulates several demands for this. For example, state funding should bring momentum again when buying electric cars, normal earners enable the changeover and manufacturers give planning security. At the same time, a comprehensive charging infrastructure “in the city, on the country and along the highways” should be built. Taxes and levies to public charges would have to decrease. The SPD link describes the CO₂ fleet limit values ​​as “indispensable” in order to promote innovations and to secure investments.

The advancement should not pacify the smoldering conflict in the coalition of the ban on combustion, as it bursts in the middle of the coalition committee on Wednesday. On Thursday, Merz welcomes representatives of the automotive industry in the Chancellery.

The clear positioning of the SPD links can therefore also be understood as a signal to your own coalition tips not to add small.
