A few weeks after the death of right-wing activist Charlie Kirk, the USA is revoking the visas of six foreigners. At the same time, Donald Trump honors the deceased.
The US government has revoked the visas of several foreign nationals, citing their statements surrounding the fatal assassination attempt on right-wing US activist Charlie Kirk. A German person is also affected, as the US State Department announced on Platform X. The accusation: The person celebrated Kirk’s death and tried to justify his killing by writing on social networks: “When fascists die, Democrats don’t complain.” The US government did not provide any further information about the person.
In addition to her, nationals from Mexico, Argentina, South Africa, Brazil and Paraguay are also affected by the visa revocation. “The United States has no obligation to accept aliens who wish death on Americans,” the State Department post said. We will continue to identify foreigners with visas who “celebrated the heinous murder of Charlie Kirk.” The six people mentioned are just a few examples of foreigners who are no longer welcome in the USA.
Trump awards Medal of Freedom to Charlie Kirk
The announcement of the visa bans came on the same day that US President Donald Trump posthumously awarded Kirk the Medal of Freedom. It is the highest civilian honor in the USA. The Republican said at a ceremony in the Rose Garden of the White House that it was an honor to posthumously award the so-called Medal of Freedom to Kirk. Widow Erika Kirk accepted the award in place of her slain husband, who would have turned 32 this Tuesday.
“We forever add his name to the eternal list of true American heroes,” Trump said of Charlie Kirk. He made his organization Turning Point USA the largest conservative youth organization in the country. Among other things, Kirk fought for freedom of expression and a “proud America.”
Charlie Kirk was shot about five weeks ago while speaking outdoors on a university campus in the state of Utah. The death of the influential Trump supporter and well-known face of the American right had enormous political impact in the USA.
Shortly after the crime, Trump blamed the rhetoric of “radical leftists” for this. Critics accused him of using this to further inflame the mood in the country instead of choosing unifying words. The US State Department had already threatened foreigners with the revocation of their visas in September if they justified the act online.
