Israel is angry because Hamas did not return all of the dead hostages on time. In fact, searching among the rubble is difficult. Now help is coming from abroad.
Turkey says it has sent a team of specialists to the Gaza Strip to help search for the bodies of Hamas hostages. The Turkish Defense Ministry said on Thursday that 81 experts from the Turkish civil protection authority Afad were already on site. A team will be tasked with searching for the remains of the remaining 19 Israeli hostages.
Hamas rejects Israel’s allegations
According to the ceasefire agreement between Israel and the radical Islamic Hamas pushed forward by US President Donald Trump, Hamas would have had to hand over all 28 dead hostages to Israel last Monday in addition to the 20 surviving hostages. However, so far only nine bodies of people abducted on October 7, 2023 have been returned. The Israeli government therefore threatened Hamas with resuming fighting in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas had “fulfilled its obligations under the agreement,” said the armed Hamas wing of the Essedin al-Qassam Brigades. Hamas needs “special equipment” to recover the remaining bodies.
The disaster relief workers from Turkey specialize in working in difficult terrain. They gained a lot of experience, especially after several earthquakes that had shaken Turkey in recent years. According to its own information, the Turkish Civil Protection Authority has already completed humanitarian aid missions in over 50 countries on five continents, including Somalia, Ecuador, the Philippines, Nepal, Yemen, Mozambique and Chad.
