Gaza: Israel’s army accuses Hamas of violating ceasefire

In Gaza The ceasefire turns out to be very fragile. On Sunday, Israel’s army accused the terrorist organization ruling the coastal strip of a serious violation of the agreement. The organization has carried out several direct attacks against Israeli troops, a senior Israeli military official said. The Hamas denied a breach of the ceasefire and said through a representative that the organization was committed to the agreement.

Reports had previously emerged that the Israeli military had launched an attack in the Gaza Strip. The army leadership initially remained silent, but then explained that Israeli forces had been attacked by Hamas several times outside the buffer zone in the Palestinian territory. The attacks, including with a rocket-propelled grenade and sniper fire, were a blatant violation of the ceasefire. Hamas had not yet responded to these specific allegations.

Israeli public radio Kan reported that the air force was attacking Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip. Other media also reported on air strikes.

The Israeli military said on Friday that “several terrorists” had opened fire on soldiers in the Rafah area. Nobody was injured. Later on the same day, the military attacked another group of “terrorists” that approached troops in Khan Yunis. The military continues to be deployed to eliminate threats, it said.

A central point of contention between Israel and the radical Islamic Hamas in the implementation of the ceasefire brokered by the USA is the handover of the bodies of hostages. Israel demands the release of the remains of all 28 slain hostages. Hamas released all 20 remaining hostages after more than two years of ordeal and handed over the bodies of twelve others. However, retrieving the dead buried under rubble requires special effort and special equipment, the Palestinian terrorists argue.
