Israel wants to restore the ceasefire in Gaza

After serious attacks in the Gaza Strip, Israel announces that it will again observe the ceasefire. However, the army emphasizes that it will react decisively to further violations.

After heavy air strikes in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army says it wants to re-observe the Gaza ceasefire. “At the direction of the political leadership and after a series of serious attacks in response to Hamas’s violations, the IDF (army) has begun re-enforcing the ceasefire,” it said in a statement distributed on Telegram. At the same time, the army warned that it would respond decisively to any violation.

The laboriously agreed ceasefire between Israel and the Islamist Hamas had previously faltered dangerously. Israel reported attacks on its troops in the south of the Gaza Strip on Sunday, leaving two dead. Armed men also approached Israeli soldiers in the north of the Gaza Strip and were shot. According to media reports, the Israeli Air Force then bombed dozens of targets in the Gaza Strip. In total, 14 Palestinians were killed in separate attacks, according to several hospitals.

Israel also stopped delivering humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip

However, Hamas’s military wing denied any responsibility for the reported attacks. “We reiterate our full commitment to implement everything that has been agreed,” said a statement from the Kassam Brigades. This applies especially to the ceasefire in all areas of the Gaza Strip.

According to security sources, Israel also stopped the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip on Sunday. The reason given was Hamas’ “flagrant violation” of the ceasefire agreements. After the ceasefire came into force on October 10, aid deliveries had been expanded as part of the agreement, with a target of 600 trucks a day.
