Trump threatens to send the National Guard to San Francisco

With the deployment of the National Guard, the city in the state of California should be made “great” again. Just 15 years ago, San Francisco was “one of the great cities in the world,” but since then things have gone “wrong” there.
San Francisco is governed by the opposition Democrats – like the other cities to which Trump has already sent the National Guard. Trump justified the operations with alleged escalating violence and an acute threat to public safety – descriptions of the situation that are vehemently disputed by those responsible locally.
Trump administration wants to legally enforce the deployment of the National Guard
On Saturday, millions of people across the country demonstrated against Trump under the slogan “No Kings.” The protests were also directed against the deployment of the National Guard in several cities. The president had ordered the National Guard to Los Angeles, Washington, Memphis, Portland and Chicago.
However, the deployment of the National Guard to Portland, Oregon and Chicago, Illinois was stopped by the courts. Last Friday, the Trump administration turned to the US Supreme Court to enforce the deployment of the National Guard to Chicago. Stopping the deployment of National Guard troops “improperly interferes with the president’s authority and unnecessarily endangers federal personnel and property,” argued government attorney John Sauer.
