Julian Reichelt, editor-in-chief of the right-wing populist news portal “Nius”, spoke on social media about police events. This concerns the judiciary.
The Berlin public prosecutor’s office is investigating the editor-in-chief of the “Nius” portal, Julian Reichelt, because of a post on social media. The reason for this is a post on platform X on April 1st. There is suspicion of incitement, said a spokesman for the authority upon request. The “Welt” had previously reported.

“The process is complete madness,” said the former “Bild” editor-in-chief of the DPA news agency.
His lawyer also criticized the investigation. The state’s continued tendency to criminalize critical journalism is becoming a permanent phenomenon in the Federal Republic, he told the DPA.
According to the public prosecutor’s office, the investigation was triggered by a complaint from a private individual. This was forwarded by the public prosecutor’s office in Krefeld to the authority in Berlin for jurisdiction reasons. In such a case, the authority must check whether a possible crime has occurred based on the so-called legality principle. The presumption of innocence applies.
