Armor is accelerated
In order to accelerate armament projects of the Bundeswehr, it should be possible to dispense with lengthy specifications for EU-wide tenders in the future. According to information from the German Press Agency, the Ministry of Defense is claiming “national security interests” and is thus claiming exceptions to EU procurement law. The Treaty on the Functioning of the EU allows this in the procurement of classic military goods (“War Weapons List”).

The determination of “national security interests” is the sole responsibility of the respective member state, but is limited in time. It cannot be that tendering procedures drag on for 10 or 15 years. “It has to be faster, it has to be much more effective. And I will enforce that accordingly.” She will also raise the amount for quick purchases from 1000 to 5000 euros. “Then I also have the capacity to take care of the big projects.”
