It is the first meeting of the foreign ministers of Russia and Ukraine since the beginning of the invasion: Lavrov and Kuleba are discussing ways of ending the war. After that there should be separate statements.
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has arrived in Turkey for talks with his Ukrainian colleague Dmytro Kuleba.
On Thursday morning he met Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in Antalya. Lavrov’s spokeswoman Maria Zakharova published photos of it on the Telegram news channel.
Prior to the summit, Cavusoglu also met bilaterally with Kuleba. Cavusoglu tweeted a photo showing the delegation from both countries. The foreign ministers of Ukraine, Russia and Turkey then want to discuss options for ending the war in Ukraine.
It would be the first high-level meeting since Russia’s war against the neighboring country began two weeks ago. According to Turkish information, there should be separate statements after the encounter.
