US President Joe Biden has called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “war criminal” over Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine.
“I think he’s a war criminal,” Biden said in Washington when asked by a reporter if Biden believed Putin was a war criminal. It is the first time that Biden has publicly found such clear words for Putin.
Shortly before, the reporter had asked whether Biden was prepared to call Putin a “war criminal”. The US President replied “no”. A few seconds later, Biden approached the journalist again, who then asked again. It was unclear if Biden misunderstood the question the first time.
