Famann wants to exempt vaccinated students from compulsory tests

Education Minister Heinz Famann (VP) wants to exempt students vaccinated against the coronavirus from the three mandatory tests per school week. It is also conceivable that they no longer have to wear masks. But he wanted to weigh this point more precisely, said Famann, according to an advance report from the news magazine “profil” on Saturday.

“A young person who sits in the classroom vaccinated should benefit from it. Privileges for those who have been vaccinated: That is generally a line of government,” said the minister, explaining his intention. He recommends that the federal states set up vaccination boxes at larger school locations.

Famann will present his plans for the coming school year in detail in the coming week. The key points are already known: In addition to the benefits for vaccinated students and vaccination appeals to teaching staff and parents, he is relying on the increased use of meaningful PCR tests, possibly also on air filters and mask wearers. Monitoring of the infection rate in schools and an early warning system are also planned.
