The authorities have imposed a strict curfew in Australia’s third largest city, Brisbane, following a corona outbreak. As the deputy prime minister of the Australian state of Queensland, Steven Miles, announced, millions of residents of the city and some other areas will have to stay at home for three days from Saturday afternoon. A total of seven infections with the delta variant of the corona virus had previously been recorded.
A teacher, a student and their family have been linked to the outbreak. The authorities say they are still trying to find the source of the infection. “The only way to defeat the Delta variant is to act quickly,” Miles justified the drastic measures.
