Chechnya’s notorious President Ramzan Kadyrov was reportedly visiting his fighters near Kyiv. A Ukrainian online portal now claims to have found out: all lies.
Ramzan Kadyrov, Chechnya’s notorious president by the grace of Putin, plays a key role in the Ukraine war. At least he pretends so. A thousand volunteer Chechen fighters are said to be on their way to Ukraine at the moment to fight alongside Russian troops. In addition, numerous bearded Caucasians are said to be in the country and deployed. There are hardly any verifiable reports about precise figures. Various videos and postings in the messenger service Telegram spread the message of a wildly shooting troop. What military value they actually have in combat is difficult to state.
But on the propaganda front, “bloodhound” Kadyrov is at the forefront. The 45-year-old claimed a few days ago that he himself was staying with his fighters in the town of Hostomel near Kyiv. He also posted a poorly lit video on the night of March 13/14 showing him and his soldiers gathered around a long table in a windowless room. They are apparently holding a briefing, hunched over a map or plan. “The other day we were about 20 kilometers from you, Kiev Nazis, and now we’re even closer, and guess how close we got,” Kadyrov wrote.
His mobile phone was apparently in Grozny
But whether Kadyrov was actually in Ukraine is highly doubtful. The Ukrainian online portal ” claims to have found out that at least his mobile phone was not in Hostomel at the given time, but in the Chechen capital Grozny. First, the journalists from Ukrainian security circles found out the two phone numbers of the mobile phone. Both numbers were for specified period not connected to Ukrainian communication networks.
In order to locate the cell phone, the journalists first gained access to Kadyrov’s Telegram group using false identities. Allegedly working for the Russian news agency Ria Novosti, they sent him an article link on the very day Kadyrov claimed to be with his troops in Hostomel. As soon as the link was opened, the journalists were able to locate the phone’s location and IP address, they report. And that was Grozny. The report cannot be independently verified.
