On Friday, the Bundestag decided to abolish most of the nationwide corona protection rules. Things will also change for rail travelers.
As of this Sunday, Deutsche Bahn passengers can again use the trains without proof of 3G as vaccinated, recovered or tested. The group is thus implementing the new requirements for infection protection, as a spokesman said at the request of the German Press Agency.
In long-distance and local trains, however, the obligation to wear FFP2 masks or medical masks still applies. In on-board catering, the 3G rule will also remain in place nationwide.
The end of the 3G access rule for trains is one of the changes to the Infection Protection Act that the Bundestag passed on Friday. It also stipulates nationwide that masks are compulsory in long-distance transport with ICE and Intercity trains as well as in airplanes.
The federal states can further order this for local transport with buses and trains. If this has not yet been regulated, the mask requirement will also apply there in a period running until April 2nd via the federal rule.
