CDU: Bosbach supports Maaßen in the election campaign in Thuringia (video)

You can see in the video: Bosbach supports Maassen in the election campaign – “The extent of malice and agitation is unimaginable”.

“And this amount of malice and agitation, these insults, these threats that I have experienced in the last 48 hours, I could never imagine when I was 70. Until now I have still thought that the Federal Republic of Germany is a country by being able to deal with one another in a civilized manner despite political differences. But with this degree of agitation and malice, I’m sorry, that’s it. ” Among other things, SPD politician Karl Lauterbach had violently criticized the long-time member of the Bundestag Wolfgang Bosbach for his support of Hans-Georg Maaßen in the election campaign in Thuringia. Maaßen, who had been nominated as a direct candidate by the CDU in southern Thuringia against the will of the federal leadership, has in the past repeatedly been criticized for political statements. Most recently, at the beginning of July, he brought NDR journalists close to left-wing extremists and called for a committee of inquiry. In the past, Maassen has also been accused of insufficient demarcation from the AfD. At the event in Zella-Mehlis, Maaßen said: “From my point of view, the AfD is not an alternative. If only because, in my opinion, it will forever be an opposition party. The party that will hopefully also support the government in the next legislature the Christian Democratic Union will be. For this reason it is necessary if we want to shape and change politics. That we work in the CDU, that we bring the CDU on the right course. ” Bosbach said he was invited by three CDU district associations. In 49 years of politics, including 23 years in the Bundestag, he has never in his life turned down the invitation of a CDU district association just because the candidate did not suit him, said Bosbach. Maaßen was President of the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution from 2012 until his provisional retirement in November 2018. Now he wants to go to the Bundestag.
