According to “Kurier” (Monday edition), lawyer Richard Soyer filed an application for diversion in May. This would make it possible to dispense with criminal proceedings. Chorherr is suspected of having received some large donations from real estate investors for “desired dedications” for his non-profit association. The public prosecutor’s office for business and corruption (WKStA) recently investigated 22 suspects in connection with donations to the school project association that was once headed by the canon. In the room there is suspicion of abuse of office, corruption and bribery. Canon was confronted with a complaint in 2017. Canon has always denied that money had influenced his political activities.
Diversion in Chorherr’s case would make it possible to end the criminal proceedings without having to conduct formal criminal proceedings and pass a judgment. As a diversification measure, for example, the payment of a sum of money or the provision of charitable services come into question.
