STORY: According to the climate protection movement Fridays for Future, there were climate protests in over 300 German cities on Friday, like here in Berlin. The demands include an end to the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine and a ban on imports of coal, oil and gas from Russia. Climate activist Luisa Neubauer said on Friday in Berlin: “We are striking today in great solidarity with Ukraine. But we also see that in a war financed by fossil fuels, we all have to talk about fossil fuels. And especially today “Tomorrow, the day after tomorrow Germany is transferring tens of millions of euros to Putin for his coal, oil and gas every day. There are no longer any single trouble spots. If we want to get away from the autocrats, if we want to protect democracy and freedom and security everywhere. Then we have to go from fossil fuels.” The climate strike took place under the motto “People not Profit”, translated: “People instead of profit”. Numerous environmental organizations supported the day of action, which was also intended to show solidarity with Ukraine.
