Against the book “The rising republic” from Union chancellor candidate Armin Laschet there are again allegations of plagiarism. The Viennese media scientist Stefan Weber found a longer passage in the book that strikingly coincides with a text by political scientist Hans Maier, as Weber wrote on his blog. “Mr Laschet has a problem after all”he judged. The CDU boss must “answer quickly”, like it “came to this second place”.
Laschet wants to have his own book checked
Laschet had already been confronted with allegations of plagiarism against his book last week. These were made public by the author Karsten Weitzenegger, who was made aware of the alleged adoption of Weitzenegger’s text passages by the well-known plagiarism hunter Martin Heidingsfelder. Laschet then admitted errors and announced that he would arrange for an examination of the entire book.
Weber said he had special software checked the entire book. “My result is a relief for Laschet”he wrote on his blog on Monday. He has “not found a single passage that I would call a plagiarism fragment”.
Weber already accused Baerbock of plagiarism

Laschet’s problem is “Not yet as big as Ms. Baerbock’s, but he will now have to answer us quickly how this second passage came about: If he himself deliberately plagiarized, has lost track of things or has trusted employees who violate the citation requirement and have not mastered the source work?”
