This is the conclusion of the study by Alexia Fürnkranz-Prskawetz and Miguel Sanchez Romero from the Vienna University of Technology. Using mathematical models, you simulated relationships in different pension systems.
This shows that “the difference in life expectancy between poorer and more affluent sections of the population has even increased in recent years,” said Fürnkranz-Prskawetz. This effect between level of education and life expectancy is even stronger: those who are educated live longer and often have a higher income. The study does not take into account the fact that the wealthier usually also pay higher pension contributions.
The researchers do not have a patent solution to the disadvantage of population groups. Instead, I would like to advise politicians: In view of the need for reform, “the pension system cannot be viewed separately from the health system and the education system”.
