The irritant figure of the political right in the USA wants to go back into politics: Sarah Palin, former governor of Alaska, has announced that she wants to apply for a seat in the US Congress.
The arch-conservative former governor of Alaska and vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin wants to return to the national political stage: The 58-year-old announced on Friday that she was running for a Republican candidacy for a seat in the US House of Representatives.
The Alaska Board of Elections listed Palin Saturday after the deadline for applications as one of 51 candidates for the seat vacated by the death of longtime Congressman Don Young, 88.

“America is at a tipping point,” Palin wrote in her statement. The irritating figure of the political right accused the “extreme left” of destroying the United States. “I am in this race to win and take up the fight for freedom alongside other patriots who are willing to sacrifice anything to save our country.”
Palin was the butt of ridicule during the 2008 election campaign when, as a vice presidential candidate, she claimed she could see Russia from her home in Alaska.
Palin made headlines again in January when she was spotted in a New York restaurant after several positive corona tests. She had previously refused to be vaccinated – “Only over my dead body,” she said.
The Alaska primary is on June 11th. The four candidates with the most votes then compete for the seat in the House of Representatives in Washington in the August 16 by-election necessitated by Young’s death.
