the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has considered the discovery of bodies in the Ukrainian city of Bucha “Provocation” intended to derail ongoing negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow. “The question is what is the purpose of this open and mendacious provocation,” Lavrov said in a video broadcast on Russian television. “We believe that it serves to find an excuse to torpedo the negotiations.”
After the Russian troops withdrew from Bucha, the Ukrainian authorities discovered numerous bodies in the small town near Kyiv. The Ukrainian government and Western allies have therefore accused Russia of “war crimes”. Moscow denies any responsibility for the people killed in Bucha and accuses the West of “falsifying” images showing the horror.
