Conflicts: Hungary summons Ukrainian ambassador

Kyiv has repeatedly called on Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to take a clear position. Now the Ukrainian ambassador in Budapest has been summoned.

The Hungarian Foreign Ministry has summoned the Ambassador of Ukraine in Budapest, Lyubov Nepop. “It’s time for the Ukrainian leaders to stop insulting Hungary,” Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto wrote on his Facebook page.

Over the past few days, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has repeatedly called on Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to clearly side with Ukraine, which has been attacked by Russia.

The right-wing head of government in Budapest has developed a close relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin in recent years. He only half-heartedly condemned the Russian aggression against Ukraine. At the same time, he banned arms deliveries going through Hungary directly to neighboring Ukraine. As one of the few EU countries, the Danube region has not expelled any Russian diplomats since the beginning of the war against Ukraine.
