Bundeswehr: Lambrecht: Deliveries of weapons from stock are hardly possible

According to Defense Minister Lambrecht, Germany is reaching its limits when it comes to providing military support to Ukraine from Bundeswehr stocks – which is why industry is being involved.

Federal Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht sees little chance of supplying Ukraine with weapons and material directly from federal stocks.

In order to maintain the Bundeswehr’s ability to defend itself, future deliveries to Ukraine would increasingly have to be made directly via the armaments industry, the SPD politician told the “Augsburger Allgemeine”.

“In the case of deliveries from the stocks of the Bundeswehr, I must honestly say that we have now reached a limit,” said the minister. “Because the troops must continue to be able to guarantee national and alliance defense.”

But that doesn’t mean that Germany can’t do more for Ukraine, Lambrecht emphasized. “That’s why we also clarified what the industry could deliver directly,” she said. She confirmed that she was still unable to provide any details about arms deliveries.
