“Vladimir Putin doesn’t understand the West that there is a need to live in a free society.” According to Fix, Putin actually believed that Ukraine would welcome him with open arms. His biggest strategic mistake was therefore to send his soldiers into a war they didn’t even know was going to be one. Now he is adjusting his strategy because Putin is pursuing a very clear goal, according to Dr. Liana Fix: “Putin sees himself among the greats of Russian history.”
What Putin wants is to write Russian history.
