According to media reports, the United States has delivered more weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. US aid for Kyiv now totals around $3.2 billion.
The first parts of the latest support package of arms and ammunition from the US have arrived in Ukraine. This was reported by the CNN TV station on Sunday night, citing an official in the White House.
Washington promised Kyiv on Wednesday more weapons and ammunition worth up to $800 million (€740 million), including artillery, armored vehicles and helicopters.
The new deliveries are intended to support Ukraine, especially in view of the feared large-scale Russian attack in the eastern Donbass region. The US government has already pledged or delivered weapons worth US$ 2.5 billion to Ukraine since the Russian war of aggression began in late February. Since the beginning of last year, US aid for Kyiv has totaled around $3.2 billion.
Russia recently sent protest notes to several Western countries, including the United States, over arms deliveries to Ukraine. According to the US newspaper Washington Post, Moscow warned in the letter that such deliveries could have “unpredictable consequences”.
