According to a survey, a slim majority of Germans would be in favor of sending heavy weapons such as tanks to Ukraine. However, opinion is mixed as to whether the federal government should do more.
According to a survey, a narrow majority of Germans are in favor of the delivery of heavy weapons to Ukraine.
In the RTL and ntv trend barometer, 51 percent were in favor of the delivery of offensive weapons and heavy equipment. According to the Forsa survey published on Tuesday, 37 percent are against it.
At the same time, however, opinions differ as to whether the federal government should do more. 38 percent of the 1,007 respondents believe the government is doing too little to support Ukraine in the war against Russia. 34 percent think the scope is just right. 16 percent, on the other hand, are of the opinion that Germany is doing too much.
Above all, supporters of the Greens (44 percent) and the Union parties (46 percent) are calling for more support for Ukraine. Supporters of the AfD (51 percent) believe that the government is doing too much for Ukraine.
Only 42 percent satisfied with Scholz
Only 42 percent are satisfied with the work of Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD). 52 percent are less or not at all.
In contrast, 61 percent of those surveyed are satisfied with the work of Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens). Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens) can also look forward to an approval of 58 percent.
More Germans are not satisfied than satisfied with the work of Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht (SPD) and Interior Minister Nancy Faeser (SPD). Only 21 percent of respondents said they were happy with Lambrecht’s work. Only 23 percent are at Faeser.
