The Union’s defense policy spokesman, Florian Hahn, spoke of an “incredible event”. “Obviously, people were more than dissatisfied with the #Chancellor’s performance,” Hahn tweeted. Several journalists also report on Twitter about the scandal. The FDP politicians left the room when Scholz answered evasively to the question from the FDP MP Marcus Faber about arms deliveries to Ukraine, Georg Ismar from the Berlin “Tagesspiegel”.

Faber himself said on Twitter that Scholz had a chance to explain himself to the Ukraine committee. “Unfortunately, many answers were not given. According to “ntv”, another committee member from the government factions was “angry” about the appearance of the FDP MPs and spoke of a “very embarrassing action”. For legal reasons, the Chancellor was not allowed to talk about possible planned arms deliveries, but he still tried to answer all questions.
“I haven’t seen the reaction of the FDP like this in 12 years in parliament,” said CDU politician Johann Wadephul, who is a deputy member of the defense committee, according to “ntv”. The scandal was “symptomatic of the Chancellor’s weakness in leadership” and also “symptomatic of the state of the traffic light coalition,” said Wadephul.
