Great Britain puts Austria on “green list”

The change will take effect on Sunday at 4 a.m. local time (5 a.m. CEST), as the British news agency PA announced on Wednesday. Entrants from countries on the so-called green list can enter the UK without quarantine, but must bring a negative test and take a PCR test on day two after entry.

The new classification means that the mandatory quarantine is no longer required for people who have not yet been fully vaccinated. Previously, since the beginning of the week, vaccinated people from the EU and the USA have been able to re-enter the UK without having to isolate themselves.

A current negative test must be presented when returning to Austria. A ten-day quarantine has to be started, as the United Kingdom is still considered a virus variant area. According to the Ministry of Health, the quarantine can only be ended with a negative molecular biological test (e.g. PCR test) from the fifth day after entry. The day of entry is regarded as “day zero”. The last incidence was 275 (as of July 30).
