Russia’s declared goal in Ukraine is the alleged “denazification” of the country. An internal document from the Federal Intelligence Service is said to show that right-wing extremists are fighting on the side of Russia of all places.
Numerous right-wing extremists are apparently fighting on the side of the Russian armed forces in Ukraine. This is said to emerge from an internal report by the Federal Intelligence Service (BND), about which “Spiegel” reports. The seven-page document was sent to several federal ministries the week before last.
Accordingly, with the “Russian Imperial League” and the group “Rusich” at least two groups with extreme right-wing sentiments are fighting against the Ukrainians. In addition, Moscow would use “at least one right-wing extremist for its own purposes,” the “Spiegel” quotes the paper as saying. It is therefore not known how many people from these two groups would fight alongside the Russian soldiers in Ukraine. However, the paper from the German foreign intelligence service shows when members of the two organizations intervened in the fighting.
BND: Neo-Nazis among the Russians become reason for war “ad absurdum”
This is remarkable insofar as Russian President Vladimir Putin justifies his war of aggression against the neighboring country, which violates international law, with the alleged “denazification” of the country. This narrative is constantly repeated on Russian state television: Ukraine is controlled by anti-Russian “Nazis” and is therefore a direct threat to national security. This justification is being taken “ad absurdum” with the use of right-wing extremist forces, according to the “Spiegel” in the paper.
According to the report, pictures of the two founders of the “Rusich” group, for example, are attached to the analysis as evidence of the attitude of the groups. One shows one of them with a swastika flag, the second shows the other showing the Hitler salute in front of a campfire.
