A representative of the Interior Ministry in Kabul confirmed that Dawa Khan Menapal had been killed. He did not say who was responsible for the crime. In their latest offensive, the Taliban captured a provincial capital for the first time, the police announced.
The city of Saranj in Nimros in the south of the country has been taken by radical Islamists, the provincial police said on Friday. Their spokesman blamed the lack of reinforcements from the central government in Kabul for the defeat.
