The pictures that Union Chancellor candidate Armin Laschet provided at the start of his campaign tour will probably be used more often in the coming weeks. In Frankfurt am Main he visited a boxing club for young people and got into the ring. Possible messages: Laschet can hand out, Laschet can take it, Laschet can fight. But also possible: Laschet is hanging on the ropes, Laschet is knocked out
CDU under Laschet only just ahead
In view of the weak polls, leading politicians are calling for more momentum in their own party’s election campaign. Among other things, Schleswig-Holstein’s Prime Minister Daniel Günther spoke here. He wanted to deliver, said Laschet: “This is the right place, because this is where boxing is going on, fighting is going on here. And it is clear that the CDU will fight in this election campaign. There is a lot going on. And you can participate in boxing, if possible clear rules, with fair rules, but still with commitment, learn a lot. ” In a current Forsa poll for the federal election, the CDU and CSU only come in at 23 percent and thus lose three percentage points compared to the previous week. The Union is just ahead of the Greens, who have 20 percent. According to the same survey, the SPD, on the other hand, gained three percentage points and reached 19 percent. Laschet himself only got twelve percent approval in the survey.
