“Drinks against Pieks” in Cologne’s student district
In Germany, a little more than 56 percent of the total population are now fully vaccinated against the coronavirus. That is not enough for herd immunity. That’s why the vaccine is now coming to the people – on the streets! More and more cities and municipalities are creating mobile vaccination offers or setting up entire vaccination buses. They are then in front of supermarkets, on marketplaces – and recently also in party districts, especially on weekends.
For “today important” reporter Nick Rasmus was present at a vaccination campaign in the middle of Cologne’s student district. Under the motto: “Drinks for pricks” there was a drink voucher after the syringe. “I was thinking about whether I should get vaccinated or not anyway. And that’s why it actually came in handy. And the food voucher was of course also a good incentive,” says Mara, who was at the campaign in Cologne got vaccinated. Afghanistan: Bundeswehr helpers in danger
The Taliban are getting closer and closer to the capital Kabul. Yesterday they captured the city of Gasni, only 150 kilometers away in the south-east of the country. This was confirmed by three provincial councilors of the German press agency. And then the city of Herat fell too.
The translators and helpers of the German armed forces have a major problem. In other words, locals who stayed there after the German troops withdrew. Qasi Nekzai from Afghanistan translated for the German Armed Forces a few years ago. He can understand the difficult situation in general.
“Nobody wanted to be near me because I was working as a translator for the German Armed Forces. I was a traitor and an infidel in the eyes of the Taliban,” he says now, a few years after his work. He is in regular contact with the local aid workers in Kabul, who are in so-called safe houses. “The children are not allowed to go out, women are not allowed to go out, the situation is very dangerous, especially for the local staff,” said Nekzai.
