Shortly after the start of the Russian war of aggression in February, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy applied for his country’s admission to the EU. Shortly thereafter, Moldova and Georgia also submitted applications for membership. The EU states then instructed the EU Commission to deal with it and to make a recommendation on how to proceed.
