Pay please! The federal government has disclosed for the first time which weapons and other materials were delivered from Germany to Ukraine.
Four months after Russia’s attack on Ukraine, which violated international law, the German government disclosed for the first time the military material it had used to support the country under attack. Of the star documents the list of German deliveries – on which there are still no main battle tanks.
German arms deliveries to Ukraine
Until the very end, there was speculation in Berlin and beyond about the German arms deliveries to Ukraine. Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) was repeatedly accused of not keeping promises. With the list of deliveries, the federal government is now going on the offensive in terms of communication and lifting secrecy – as is doing, for example, in the United States. So far, the German government has only publicly announced its deliveries to the Ukrainian armed forces for defensive combat against Russia. However, they were published by the Ukrainian side after they arrived in the war zone.
In addition to the weapons and other materials that have been delivered so far, according to the federal government, further services are in preparation or implementation, it said in Berlin. Among other things, this involves several million rounds of ammunition, 100,000 first-aid kits, but also a number of heavy weapon systems, around 30 anti-aircraft tanks of the “Gepard” type, seven self-propelled howitzers 2000, three “Mars” multiple rocket launchers with ammunition, an “Iris -T SLM”, the artillery detection radar “Cobra” and ten anti-drone guns.
According to government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit, this should be continuously updated. The federal government will continue to work “to ensure that Ukraine receives urgently needed weapons soon and can use them quickly,” he said and assured: “Germany will continue to support it as long as Ukraine needs this support.”
