The refinery town of Schwedt fears for its future because of the Russian sanctions. Economics Minister Robert Habeck faces the protest – and still cannot convince.

When Robert Habeck enters the stage, he is greeted with a wave of anger. Shrill whistles and boos break out at him. At the very front, at the barrier, someone has hung up a sign: “No more Ha-BOCK!” A large poster of the citizens’ alliance “Zukunft Schwedt”, which organized the demo, hangs behind the Economics Minister. The PCK refinery can be seen on it. In the picture, a bright rainbow stretches across the chimneys, which look a bit like the minarets of a mosque. As if the refinery were sacred.
