Marcelo believes Bolsonaro’s canceled meeting caught Portugal’s attention

The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, on Monday felt that the meeting, canceled by his Brazilian counterpart Jair Bolsonaro, was beneficial in bringing media attention to Portugal in Brazil.

“What could have been a bitter taste in the mouth was very sweet in the medium term,” the head of state told reporters in Sao Paulo, arguing that the episode “allowed people to talk about Portugal even more here.”

According to Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the presence of the President of Portugal in Brazil “became a topic”, it became something “so covered, so covered by the Brazilian media”, and caused “great sympathy for Portugal”.
