The list of directors of the PSD National Council, led by the mayor of Lisbon, Carlos Moedas, received an absolute majority in Congress this Sunday, electing 42 of the 70 councilors, 60% of the seats.
According to information provided to Lusa by social democratic sources, the second most voted list was headed by former general secretary Matos Rosa with 10 councilors (14% of those elected).
At the last congress in December last year, Rui Rio’s board was elected with 67.6% of the vote. In 2020, he won 62.4% of the vote, at the time the lowest since Luis Filipe Menezes received 61.8% in 2007.
In 2016, Pedro Passos Coelho’s National Political Commission won 79.8% of the vote, the worst result for that body by one of its directors. In 2014, his political commission won 85% of the vote, in 2012 it was elected with 88%, and in 2010 with 87.2%.
